2018年 サンタ・クリスティーナ・ビアンコ (スクリューキャップ) / SANTA CRISTINA / White
Entry lineup from the prestigious Antinori company,
a beloved Santa Cristina white wine that has been a longtime seller for over 60 years!
Antinori is a great, famous, Florentine wine producer in Tuscany, which had written an important page in the history of wine industries since the 14th century.
The history goes back to 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Guild of Winemakers in Florence. After a few centuries passed by, Antinori has now owned various vineyards mainly in Chianti Classico district, along with the winery located in Umbria called “Castello della Sala”.
They are followed by obtaining “Prunotto” in Piedmont in 1989, and now have developed enough to be able to bring the greatest wines into the world.
Antinori is also the originator of well-known “Super Tascan”, which was initiated by the creation of Tignanello and Solaia by blending two different varietals, one is Sangiovese – the leading Italian grape variety, and the other is Cabernet Sauvignon – a foreign varietal from France.
At first, they were criticized for blending a traditional varietal with grapes from outside of the country, as well as not being given “Denomination of Origin” status, since Cabernet Sauvignon was not allowed to be used for any DOC-labeled wines at that time. They didn’t have no other choice but to sell the wine as “Vino da Tavola”.
Their wines have eventually become high in market price as a result of obtaining high reputations from outside of the country, and now Solaia is referred to as The Three Super Tuscan along with Sassicaia and Ornellaia. Thus, Antinori has established the position as one of the leading wineries in Italy.
This Santa Cristina has been one of the famous and noble wines since its release in 1946, being called “The wine all Italian people have ever heard of it”, and continues to be a market leader in the Italian wine industries.
The winery has preserved their tradition and philosophy - “Appreciative of the connection with the lands” - since the foundation, and keeps developing in respect for their soils, vineyards, and craftsmanship.
Santa Cristina is now respected and loved not just in Italy but from all over the world for its adorable Tuscany-like taste reflecting fresh fruit flavors.
Beautiful straw color, with fresh aromas of bergamot, orange flower, lemon, and green apple, intermixed with hints of sweet spices such as cinnamon.
On the palate, it is soft and mild, with fresh fruit flavors suggesting the use of stainless steel tanks. A great, easy-to-drink white wine, for its wonderful acidity and fruit-forward style.
Grape varieties: Mainly Grechetto and Procanico
