Maturered Bordeaux tastes really great!
This is because, for long time, drinking Bordeaux wine has been, basically, meaning enjoying the peak of complex taste and flavor of the wine which have developed through the years of slow cellar aging. In other words, aging gives a chance for wine to show its true face. Even unknown wines from Bordeaux, sometimes, develop amazingly complex flavors after several years of aging. Some small Chateaux or Petit Chateaux also can produce potentially ageable quality wines. That is one of the greatest part of Bordeaux.
Many wine lovers would like to try different Bordeaux wines, but some said that they do not want to uncork Grand vins because they want to age them.... and the other said that Bordeaux is too pricy these days that they cannot afford to try.... Well, to meet the demands and expectations of those Bordeaux fans, we, ENOTECA, traveled and found number of affordable very good aged Bordeaux.
Here are some of them from 1980 to 2001 starting from 3,000 yen. Please find the ones from the list below that may be interest you a lot!
Why Bordeaux wines gain its value through aging?
Overall wine supply in the market is decreased by the consumption and availability of the wine become less and less in the market at the same time. As a result, price goes up because of the increasing scarcity value of the wine.
As many of you know, price of Bordeaux wine is heating up in the market today, but it seems that this tendency is observed more on the Grand Cru Class Grand vin, but not on all the wines produced in Bordeaux. We still are able to import old vintage great Bordeaux with reasonably appropriate pricing. If you are started to have an interest in Bordeaux wines, do not spend too much at first place. Try to find the affordable wine from less popular Chateau instead of top high-end Gran vins, and gradually step it up to the famous ones. You may find the great wine at certain point and it will give you a good idea about Bordeaux wines.
How is the aged Bordeaux taste like?
Through the years of aging, fruit, acidity, sweetness and astringency in the wine mingled altogether to develop complex and deep taste and flavor.. The alcoholic component loses its harshness and wine become smoother and softer in the mouth, and the wine started to reveal its true potential which cannot be seen while it is youthful. Roundness and matured seductive taste gained from aging intoxicate many Bordeaux fans.
